# Gemini Plugin

This guide covers extension installation, slash commands, example responses, and update steps for using the Connexease Gateway Customer MCP with Gemini CLI on macOS.

For explanations of the five shared workflows, security rules, and troubleshooting, see the \[Introduction and Shared Usage Guide]\(Connexease Gateway - Introduction.md).

## Setup and usage

Requirements: **macOS**, **Node.js 20+**, Gemini CLI, and working Gemini CLI authentication. You also need your own Gateway account for panel operations. In Terminal, install the entire repository as an extension instead of the old documentation skill:

```bash theme={null}
gemini extensions install https://github.com/connexease/connexease-gateway-customer-mcp.git
gemini extensions list
gemini
```

| Terminal command | What does it do? |
| - | - |
| `gemini extensions install https://github.com/connexease/connexease-gateway-customer-mcp.git` | Installs the GitHub repository as a Gemini CLI extension. Git access and installation approval may be required. |
| `gemini extensions list` | Checks whether the `connexease-gateway-customer-mcp` extension is installed/enabled. |
| `gemini` | Opens the Gemini CLI chat; use the `/...` commands below in this session. |

The extension loads the same local `gateway-account` MCP server and five skills. Inside a Gemini session, use the commands below or make a request in natural language:

| Gemini command | What does it do? |
| - | - |
| `/connexease-gateway:ask <question>` | Requests a linked answer from live official documentation; Gateway sign-in is not required. \[Details]\(Connexease Gateway - Introduction.md#ask-asking-documentation-questions). |
| `/connexease-gateway:connect` | Signs in to the Gateway account you select in local macOS windows, then displays its applications. \[Details]\(Connexease Gateway - Introduction.md#connect-connecting-to-an-account). |
| `/connexease-gateway:panel-ops <request>` | Routes supported panel reads and approved changes. \[Details]\(Connexease Gateway - Introduction.md#panel-ops-panel-operations). |
| `/connexease-gateway:sandbox-ops <request>` | Manages test numbers; previews a real send and asks for separate approval. \[Details]\(Connexease Gateway - Introduction.md#sandbox-ops-test-numbers-and-messages). |
| `/connexease-gateway:insights <request>` | Retrieves a single Insight table/chart or a comparison between two periods. \[Details]\(Connexease Gateway - Introduction.md#insights-tables-charts-and-comparisons). |

Examples — enter these **in the Gemini CLI session**:

```text theme={null}
/connexease-gateway:ask How is Public API authentication performed? Include the official documentation link.
/connexease-gateway:connect
/connexease-gateway:panel-ops List this application's approved WhatsApp templates.
/connexease-gateway:sandbox-ops Show the test numbers; preview the template message I select before sending it.
/connexease-gateway:insights Show the Messaging Cost Over Time chart for September 1–30, 2026.
```

### Gemini CLI: command → example response

Enter these lines **in the Gemini CLI session**, not in the Terminal shell used for installation. Responses are illustrative; the `connect` and panel examples apply when local sign-in and API access succeed.

```text theme={null}
> /connexease-gateway:ask Give me the link to the Quickstart documentation.
Gemini: Official Quickstart: https://docs.gateway.connexease.com/quickstart
> /connexease-gateway:connect
Gemini: Complete the macOS sign-in windows.
Gemini: Connection successful: test@example.com. Accessible application: Demo Application (WhatsApp).
> /connexease-gateway:panel-ops Show the webhook status of Demo Application; do not change it.
Gemini: The webhook is enabled for Demo Application. URL: https://example.com/webhook.
        Only the current status was read; no changes were made.
> /connexease-gateway:sandbox-ops Preview the text "Hello" to the registered test number in Demo Application before sending it.
Gemini: Preview — recipient: +905321234567; message: Hello; status: not_sent.
        No message has been sent yet. Would you like me to actually send this message?
> /connexease-gateway:insights Show Demo Application's Messages Over Time view for September 1–3, 2026.
Gemini: Only the Messages Over Time table and terminal line chart were displayed.
        Example daily values: Sep 1: 4, Sep 2: 7, Sep 3: 9 messages.
```

To update the extension, run `gemini extensions update connexease-gateway-customer-mcp` in a regular Terminal, use `gemini extensions list` to check it, and restart the Gemini session. In an open Gemini session, `/extensions list` shows installed extensions, `/commands list` shows available slash commands, and `/quit` exits the session. Gemini CLI installation and Google sign-in are separate from Gateway sign-in. The earlier `UNSUPPORTED_CLIENT` error relates to Google sign-in; the extension cannot resolve it by itself. Google's [Gemini CLI extension commands](https://geminicli.com/docs/extensions/reference/) explain installation and updates. Live account testing through this repository has not yet been performed in Gemini.
